Two BSc Computer Science students won the Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2021
Mr Xavier Yeung Yuen-hei and Mr Harvey Ng Ming-hin, two BSc Computer Science students, were among the 25 winners for the Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2021 after successfully outshining many other candidates in the vigorous selection process. The students will each receive HK$150,000 for activities including overseas exchange, local internship and mentorship programmes. Hong Kong Computer Society Student Sponsorship 2020
The project team comprising Ms ZHANG Yifan, a CS PhD student, and Mr ZHANG Jinghuai, a BScCS 2020 graduate, was awarded the Hong Kong Computer Society Student Sponsorship 2020 in the amount of HKD20,000 for their research work titled “A Novel Learning Framework for Sampling-Based Motion Planning in Autonomous Driving,” which was published in the 34th AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI 2020), under the supervision of Prof Jianping WANG.
Established by the Hong Kong Computer Society, the Sponsorship aims to encourage student participation in ICT projects and show recognition to outstanding student projects. A total of two projects are awarded annually from local universities’ nominations.
Gold prize in the Logistics Algorithm Competition in the 11th International Conference on Evolutionary Multi-Criterion Optimization (EMO 2021)
Two PhD students, Mr ZHU Qingling and Mr LIU Fei, under the supervision of Prof ZHANG Qingfu, won the gold prize with USD 5,000 in track one of the Logistics Algorithm Competition organized by Huawei Technologies Ltd. in the 11th International Conference on Evolutionary Multi-Criterion Optimization (EMO 2021).
This 3-month competition attracted over 110 teams to develop and test their methods on the real-world dataset. One major search engine in the winning method is MOEA/D, a widely used multiobjective evolutionary algorithm developed by our winning team.
Silver Prize in 12th Challenge Cup – National Business Plan Competition for College Students and 6th China International College Students' “Internet +” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
A joint team with members from City University of Hong Kong and the Northeastern University, China won the Silver Prize in both the 12th Challenge Cup – National Business Plan Competition for College Students and the 6th China International College Students' “Internet +” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for their project titled “CombCure,” under the supervision of Dr Shuaicheng LI. The team has developed a prototype for a cancer platform for doctors and patients with functions including Omics data analysis, data management, genetic data visualization, medicine and treatment recommendation, and cloud-based consultation.
