Prof Qingfu Zhang and his PhD students Chengyu Lu and Yilu Liu have won the 2024 Best Student Paper Award for their paper titled “MOEA/D-CMA Made Better with (1+1)-CMA-ES”. The paper showcased their collaborative effort in investigating the feasibility of incorporating MOEA/D with evolution strategies to tackle black-box multi-objective optimization problems.

The team FSM Speed supervised by Prof Wang Jianping has triumphed at the 17th F1Tenth Autonomous Grand Prix during the 2024 Cyber-Physical Systems and Internet-of-Things Week. The team members include CS PhD student Deng Jinghuai and Research Assistants Hu Hua, Dong Xiaoyun, Huang Bingyuan and Li Jiahao.

Prof ZHAO Qingchuan, in collaboration with two CS PhD students CHEN Yongliang and TANG Ruoqin and four fellow scholars, have been awarded the Distinguished Paper Award at the 46th International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE 2024) in Lisbon, Portugal. This conference is a premier event in the field of software engineering.
Our Year 2 BSc Computer Science student Mr NG Cheuk Yiu, has won the Gold Award at the Hong Kong Techathon+ 2024, which took place from 26 to 28 January. He teamed up with Mr CHENG Chit Yuen, a CityU student minoring in Computer Science, along with 2 other CityU students as well as 4 students from other universities.
Our 2023 BSc Computer Science graduate Ms LIU Wei, has been awarded the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Scholarship at the HKIE Prize Presentation Ceremony cum New Members’ Reception on 13 January 2024.
Our BSc Computer Science students Zhehan YU, Shangkun ZHENG and Visiting Research Student (CS) Yixiong GAO, supervised by Prof Minming LI and Prof Ray CHEUNG, have secured the 1st place among Hong Kong teams and ranked 11th worldwide in the 2023 IEEEXtreme 17.0 Programming Competition.
Our BSc Computer Science students Zhehan YU, Shangkun ZHENG, Yu HE, Visiting Research Student (CS) Yixiong GAO and MSc Data Science Student Fangzhao YAN, under the supervision of Prof Minming LI, Prof Jun HUANG, Prof Junqiao QIU, and Dr Kenneth LEE, have secured multiple awards in prestigious competitions including China Collegiate Programming Contest (CCPC) and International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). With our team’s exceptional algorithmic programming and problem-solving skills, the students manag
a team comprising of three BSc Computer Science students FOR Lek Shyuen, WONG Yu Fai and ZHENISHBEK UULU Talantbek together with BEng Computer and Data Engineering student HARIYANTO Vanessa Laurel, under the coordination of Prof HANCKE Gerhard Petrus, was announced as the Champions of the Hackathon at the 7th HackADay event hosted by PwC Hong Kong.
