Awards in the 49th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC)

Our PhD students GAO Yixiong and ZHENG Shangkun together with BSc Computer Science students YAN Yachao, HONG Chenhao, GAO Liyou, WANG Fan, WONG Ka Wa, CHOI Kui Wang and YANG Hans Ericson, under the supervision of Prof LI Minming, Prof HUANG Jun, Prof QIU Junqiao, Prof ZUO Jinhang and Dr LEE Kenneth, have secured multiple awards in the 49th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC)

ByteDance Scholarship & Best Mentor Award

Computer Science PhD student Mr Yi LIU has been awarded the ByteDance Scholarship for his project proposal titled “Towards Efficient, Secure, and Robust Federated Multimodal Large Language Models: System Design and Emerging Applications”.  In additional, his supervisor Prof Cong WANG has won the Best Mentor Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to nurturing talent. 

Best Paper Award at the ACM International Workshop on Mobile Computing with Efficient and Interactive Foundation Models 2024 (ACM EIFCom 2024)

Prof Weitao Xu, together with CS PhD students Mr Huanqi Yang and Mr Rucheng Wu, have been awarded the Best Paper Award at the ACM International Workshop on Mobile Computing with Efficient and Interactive Foundation Models 2024 (ACM EIFCom 2024).  Their paper titled “TransCompressor: LLM-Powered Multimodal Data Compression for Smart Transportation”, was recognized at the workshop held on 18 November 2024 in Washington, D.C., USA.

Champion in IEEE (Hong Kong) Computational Intelligence Chapter Postgraduate Student Research Paper Competition 2024

CS PhD student Mr Fei LIU, in collaboration with Prof Qingfu ZHANGProf Zhichao LU and five other scholars, has won the Champion award in IEEE (Hong Kong) Computational Intelligence Chapter Postgraduate Student Research Paper Competition 2024

Best Student Paper Award at IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC) 2024

Prof Qingfu Zhang and his PhD students Chengyu Lu and Yilu Liu have won the 2024 Best Student Paper Award for their paper titled “MOEA/D-CMA Made Better with (1+1)-CMA-ES”.  The paper showcased their collaborative effort in investigating the feasibility of incorporating MOEA/D with evolution strategies to tackle black-box multi-objective optimization problems.

17th F1Tenth Autonomous Grand Prix on the 2024 Cyber-Physical Systems and Internet-of-Things Week

The team FSM Speed supervised by Prof Wang Jianping has triumphed at the 17th F1Tenth Autonomous Grand Prix during the 2024 Cyber-Physical Systems and Internet-of-Things Week.  The team members include CS PhD student Deng Jinghuai and Research Assistants Hu Hua, Dong Xiaoyun, Huang Bingyuan and Li Jiahao
