Gold Prize in the 31st International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling (ICAPS 2021)
Mr Zhu Qingling, a graduating CS PhD student under the supervision of Prof Qingfu Zhang, along with Mr Junchuang Cai and Dr Qiuzhen Lin from Shenzhen University, won the Gold Prize with USD 5,000 in the Dynamic Pickup and Delivery Problem Competition organized by Huawei Technologies Ltd. in the 31st International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling (ICAPS 2021). This three-month competition attracted 150 teams to develop and test their algorithms to solve the real-world problem on dynamic pickup and delivery in the logistics domain.
HKIE Scholarship 2020/2021
Miss LIU Wei, a Year 3 BSc Computer Science student, has been selected to receive the HKIE Scholarship 2020/2021.
Established by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), the Scholarship is awarded to three engineering undergraduate students annually to recognize their outstanding academic achievements and encourage active participation in HKIE activities. The student will receive a certificate and a total grant of HK$80,000 throughout her four years of study.
Ms Liu prepared a video to illustrate her involvement in HKIE activities, as well as her reflections on her role as a software engineer and her future aspirations. Enjoy viewing!
Best Paper Award in the 9th International Conference on Intelligent Biology and Medicine (ICIBM) 2021
Dr Yiqi Jiang, a 2021 PhD graduate, and Mr Shuai Wang, a PhD student, together with their supervisor Dr Shuaicheng Li, received the Best Paper Award for their co-authored paper titled “A framework to trace microbial engraftment at the strain level during fecal microbiota transplantation,” in the 9th International Conference on Intelligent Biology and Medicine (ICIBM 2021) held virtually in August 2021.
The conference brings together eminent scholars with expertise in various fields of computational biology, systems biology, computational medicine, as well as experimentalists interested in application of computational methods in biomedical studies.
A BSc Computer Student clinched the HSBC Overseas Scholarship 2021/22
Mr Harvey Ng Ming-hin, a BSc Computer Science student, was among the five awardees for the HSBC Overseas Scholarship 2021/22 after outperforming many other candidates in this highly competitive scholarship award. The student received HK$300,000 to support his studies on the joint bachelor’s degree programme at Columbia University, US.
