Foreign member of the Academia Europaea
Prof Jun WANG has been elected as the foreign member of the Academia Europaea in its Informatics Section, following a rigorous peer review process.
The Academia Europaea, which was founded in 1988, is a Europe-wide Academy, with a membership of over 4000 eminent scholars, from countries of Europe and other nations across the world, covering the full range of academic disciplines including the humanities, law, the economic, social, and political sciences, mathematics, medicine, and all branches of natural and technological sciences, with aims to promote European research, advise governments and international organisations in scientific matters, and further interdisciplinary and international research.
Fellow of IEEE 2021
Dr Cong WANG has been elected Fellow of the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in the class of 2021 for his exceptional contributions to security of cloud storage and computation.
The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the Board of Directors upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year does not exceed one-tenth of one percent of the total voting Institute membership.
Excellence Award in the Tencent AI Lab Rhino-Bird Focused Research Program 2019
Dr Linqi SONG received the Excellence Award in the Tencent AI Lab Rhino-Bird Focused Research Program 2019 for his outstanding research on Event-Based Natural Language Understanding supported by Tencent AI Lab Rhino Bird Gift Fund.
The Program aims to promote joint efforts between academia and the Tencent Corporation to undertake pioneering research in AI fields and address research problems in the industry applications.
Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macau) 2020
Dr Shiqi WANG has been awarded the 2020 Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macau) under the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Dr Wang will receive a funding of RMB 1.2 million in support of his research work.
The Excellent Young Scientists Fund is granted annually to support young researchers with achievements in basic research to further conduct research in their respective fields.
