Mr Di DUAN and Mr Huanqi YANG, PhD students, Dr Weitao XU, the students’ supervisor and Prof Xiaohua JIA, Mr Duan’s co-supervisor, along with two overseas collaborators, received the Mark Weiser Best Paper Award for their co-authored paper entitled EMGSense: A Low-Effort Self-Supervised Domain Adaptation Framework for EMG Sensing at the IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications (PerCom2023) held at Atlanta, USA in March 2023.

a team comprising three BSc Computer Science students, along with a student from PolyU and a student from HKUST, won Third Place Award in the Web3.0 Developer Hackathon held in August 2022, and was awarded with a HK$10,000 cash prize.

Congratulations to Mr HE Yu, Mr YU Zhehan, and Mr ZHENG Shangkun, who are BSc Computer Science students under the supervision of Prof Minming LI, Dr Junqiao QIU, and Dr Kenneth LEE, for winning the Bronze Medal in both the 2022 ICPC Asia Hefei Regional Contest and the 2022-2023 ICPC Asia Hong Kong Regional Contest

A team comprising four BSc Computer Science students won the 1st Runner Up award in the PwC HackaDay Hackathon held in November 2022. 

A team comprising PhD and undergraduate students from CityU, along with six students from Northeastern University, won the Third Prize in the 8th Hong Kong University Student Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition under the supervision of Dr Shuaicheng Li.

Dr Yang LIU, a 2020 PhD graduate under the supervision of Dr Zhenjiang LI, received the Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award 2021 from China Chapter of ACM Special Interest Group on Embedded System (SIGBED) for her thesis entitled “Human Behavior Sensing and Understanding with Sparse Wearable Sensors.”

A team comprising Mr DAI Chenyue and Mr LI Jiaqian, BSc Computer Science students, and a student from the EE Department, won the Silver Medal in the 46^th ICPC Asia Kunming Regional Contest held virtually in April 2022, under the supervision of Prof Minming LI and Dr Kenneth LEE.

Miss FENG Li, a 2022 BSc Computer Science graduate, together with two members from the EE Department, won the Second Prize in the Global Final of Huawei ICT Competition 2021-2022 under the Innovation Category, for their project titled “CanSee 2.0: A Convenient, Efficient and Comprehensive Platform for Lung Cancer Diagnosis,” under the supervision of Dr Ray CHEUNG.

Mr Kevin XUE, a fresh graduate of the Joint Bachelor's Degree Program between City University of Hong Kong and Columbia University, received the Russell C. Mills Award for excellence in the area of computer science.

Mr Xu Jiakai, a Year 3 BSc Computer Science student, along with five undergraduate students from Northeastern University, won “The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology GBA Youth Innovation Grand Prize” in the 2021 Qianhai Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao-Taiwan Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition held in December 2021, under the supervision of Dr Shuaicheng Li.
