ACM/IEEE SenSys 2026 Best Paper Runner-up

Prof Zhenjiang Li, along with CS PhD student Mr Mingzhe Li, and PhD graduate Dr Tao Chen, have been awarded the Best Paper Runner-up for their paper titled “Longan: Ultra-Low-Power, Long-Range LoRa Receiver for LPWANs”, presented at the 2026 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Embedded Artificial Intelligence and Sensing Systems (SenSys 2026).

SenSys 2026 represents a significant milestone as a unified flagship conference that brings together SenSys, IPSN, and IoTDI into one premier platform. Its broad, interdisciplinary scope and rigorous academic standards make it a highly regarded venue for research in embedded AI and sensing systems. The integration of these communities enhances collaboration and strengthens its role as a key forum for advancing research in sensor networks, IoT, and cyber-physical systems.

Best Paper Award at the IEEE Global Communications Conference (IEEE Globecom’2025)

Prof Yuguang Fang, together with CS Postdoc Dr Yiqin Deng and PhD students Mr Zhengru Fang, Mr Senkang Hu, and Ms Yanan Ma, have been awarded the Best Paper Award at the IEEE Global Communications Conference (IEEE Globecom’2025). Their paper titled “UAV-enabled computing power networks: Task completion probability analysis”, was recognized at the conference held on 8-12 December 2025 in Taipei, Taiwan.

IEEE Globecom is a leading event organized by the IEEE Communications Society, dedicated to fostering innovation across various facets of communications. This year’s conference is held under the theme “Sustainable Communications for Ubiquitous Intelligence”. With over 2,700 paper submissions, the program features high-quality technical papers, tutorials, and an engaging industry program that includes keynotes from prominent experts, making it a crucial platform for innovation and collaboration in global telecommunications.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) CodeVita Season 13

Mr GAO Yixiong, a PhD student, and Mr CHOI Kui Wang, a Year 2 BSc Computer Science student, have achieved outstanding results by ranking in the Top 1% and Top 5%, respectively, out of over 140,000 global registrations in Round 1 of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) CodeVita Season 13. They have successfully advanced to Round 2.

TCS CodeVita is a global programming competition designed to identify top coders around the world. In TCS CodeVita, participants tackle challenges such as algorithms, data structures, and dynamic programming over the course of 6 hours. Round 2 of TCS CodeVita Season 13 is set to take place on 21 November 2025.

IEEEXtreme 18.0 Programming Competition 2024

Our PhD students GAO Yixiong and ZHENG Shangkun along with BSc Computer Science student YAN Yachao, under the supervision of Prof LI Minming and Prof CHEUNG Ray, have secured the 1st place among all teams from Hong Kong and ranked 13th worldwide in the 2024 IEEEXtreme 18.0 Programming Competition.

IEEEXtreme is a prestigious global challenge where IEEE student member teams compete for 24 hours to solve complex programming problems.  The IEEEXtreme 18.0, which commenced on 26 October 2024, saw participation from 19,916 students and 8,793 teams, representing the top universities from 75 countries and regions worldwide.  Despite the intense demands of the competition, our team demonstrated exceptional perseverance and skill, achieving this impressive outcome.
