The Japan Study Tour 2025 was organized by the Department of Computer Science during 2-6 June 2025, which provided students an opportunity to visit local universities and companies and engaged in cultural activities. The trip was led by Dr. Howard Leung and Dr. Kenneth Lee

The journey began with a flight from Hong Kong to Osaka on 2 June. On 3 June, the tour started with a visit to Kansai University Senriyama Campus, where the faculty members from the Division of International Affairs hosted a campus tour. Later that afternoon, we met with Prof. Tadakuma and his team at The University of Osaka Toyonaka campus. Their innovations, inventions, and applications in robotic mechanisms were showcased. On 4 June, we visited Kanadevia A.I/TEC , an IT company dedicated to applying information technology to diverse industries in Japan, including power generation, manufacturing, and construction. The company's representatives shared their expertise and hands-on experience with us, offering insights into real-world projects. Afterwards, we went to Kyoto University Yoshida Campus. Students and researchers from Kyoto University showed us the projects they were working on and discussed how to implement and apply related technologies, including computer vision and human-robot interaction. On 5 June, students planned their own activities based on their interests and formed different groups to make various cultural explorations. This blend of academic learning and cultural immersion can provide a well-rounded perspective on Japan's technological progress and societal values.
