Best Paper Award of the International Conference on Hardware/Software Codesign and System Synthesis 2014
Dr Minming Li worked in collaboration with other researchers abroad and received the Best Paper Award for their paper titled “TSP: Thermal Safe Power - Efficient power budgeting for Many-Core Systems in Dark Silicon” in the International Conference on Hardware/Software Codesign and System Synthesis held on 12-17 October 2014 in New Delhi, India.
The paper proposes that TSP (Thermal Safe Power) provides safe power constraint values as a function of the number of simultaneously operating cores. Maintaining all the cores running below TSP will make Dynamic Thermal Management unnecessary and hence will improve the system performance significantly.
Fellow of IEEE 2013
Prof JIA Xiaohua has been elected the Fellow of IEEE 2013 for his outstanding contributions to distributed computing systems and multicast communications. The Fellowship is the highest honour in IEEE membership and is only conferred upon individuals with outstanding contributions to IEEE-designated fields.
Early Career Award 2012-13
Dr CHAN Antoni Bert has been given Early Career Award in recognition of his outstanding proposal in the Early Career Scheme (ECS) category, which is set up by the Research Grant Council (RGC) for supporting junior faculty members early in their academic careers.
