A Culinary Journey through Asakusa's Gyumon Halal Ramen

Following our exposure to the tranquility and exquisiteness of Sensoji Temple and the plethora of cultures from diverse tourists, we rented bicycles to embark on an exhilarating adventure to satisfy our growling stomachs that yearned for delicious Japanese cuisine. Set amidst the serene and vibrant Umamichi Dori Street in Asakusa, the striking Gyumon Halal Ramen Asakusa restaurant may appear as just another ordinary eatery at first glance. However, upon stepping inside, we were warmly greeted by the cheerful glow of welcoming smiles, traditional melodies that soothe the ears, and a hint of samurai culture.

A Reunion in Tokyo: Sharing Stories and Savoring Flavors

There, we encountered 2 other peers from CityU, equally delighted to see us. We exchanged tales of our vibrant experiences in Japan for a while before settling in a stunning cozy spot to browse through a tempting array of Japanese delicacies, each dish more tantalizing than the previous one. The air was alive with the aromas of simmering broths and sizzling meats, all of which were labeled as “halal” to cater to certain religious obligations to ensure everyone’s needs are accommodated, including mine. We soon agreed on the restaurant’s signature ramen dish, renowned for its harmonious fusion of flavors. As the first spoonful touched our lips, we were transported on a culinary journey through Japan — the rich umami of the broth, the tender chewiness of the noodles, and the symphony of spices dancing on our taste buds.

A Samurai Encounter: Dining, History, and Captured Memories

Throughout the flavorful journey, we found ourselves in delightful conversations with the restaurant’s owner, who was portraying a samurai using a flamboyant outfit and a prop katana. He shared interesting details about Japan’s history to ensure the atmosphere was lively and interactive. We requested to immortalize this experience by capturing this exquisite moment with him on camera, and he was more than joyous to be in the frame with us.

The Beginning of a New Adventure

Shortly after we satiated our hunger, we bid farewell to our new friends and embarked on another adventure to the bustling streets of Shinjuku to garner more memories of Japan.
