Discover Tokyo Tower & Sushi Restaurant

After visit to Waseda University we in a group of friends decided to see one of the main landmarks - Tokyo Tower.

Tokyo Tower is a broadcasting tower and at the same time an ideal place for tourists to admire the bustling city below. You can appreciate the modernist charm of the illuminated tower just by looking at it from the outside. However, the real impression is made when you climb to the top of the tower.

And it was the best decision to see Tokyo from the height in the evening because views were spectacular. Not only that but we had an opportunity to learn more about the history of Tokyo and were thrilled by glass floors.

After the day full of experience, we were, of course, hungry and decided to try some authentic food. And what is more associated with Japan than sushi and sashimi? Sashimi is a Japanese dish consisting mainly of raw seafood, which is sliced into thin, small pieces and served without being cooked.

We found nearby a very nice restaurant where they served us amazingly tasty food and gave us a mini performance while serving sake. The sake was poured into a glass that was in a masu (升) (160 ml wooden box) until about 20 ml of the drink poured into the masu. The traditional way of drinking sake is very interesting and has its own unique challenges. The first one is not to drop sake on ourselves, as the bottom of the glass we took from the masu is wet. When the glass was completely drained, however, the remaining sake from the masu could be poured into the glass. We later learned that the reason why the pallet is this shape is because people used this box to measure rice in the Middle Ages.

In summary, we had an exciting evening with friends and experienced the culture of Japan a little more. Definitely recommend everyone to visit TOKYO Tower and eat sushi on such an occasion!
