Xiao-Yong Wei is an Associate Professor with the School of Computer Science, Sichuan University, China and one of the Founding Members of the Video Retrieval Group (VIREO), City University of Hong Kong. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from City University of Hong Kong in 2009, his M.Eng. degree in Computer Science from Yunnan University in 2006, and his B.Eng. degree in Construction Engineering from Kunming University of Science and Technology in 2000. He was a Senior Research Associate in Dept. of Computer Science and Dept. of Chinese, Linguistics and Translation of City University of Hong Kong in 2009 and 2010 respectively. He had worked as a Software Architect and also a Software Dept. Manager at Para Telecom Ltd., China from 2000 to 2003. His research interests include multimeida computing, data mining, computational linguistics, and software engineering.
