Schedule

The following is a roughly schedule of tasks and deliverables I am expecting from all my students. In addition, you should follow the detailed schedule for the program your are registered in.

For CS undergraduate FYP, the guidelines are (Part I) and (Part II).

Project Starts - First Semester

Week 1 to 3
- Project Proposal/Plan
  Submit draft Project Proposal and Plan to me by week 2 or 3 so that I can give comments to be incorporated into the final Project Plan. The Project Plan should include a revised and updated description of your proposal. (The original one paragraph description of your project is not sufficient anymore.) Also, please supplement your Project Plan with at least 5 key references describing technologies relevant to your project.
Week 3
- Project Proposal Presentation
  Give a short 5-10 minute PowerPoint presentation on your Project Plan. I will try to schedule a time when all my FYP students can meet and present their plans, so that we can exchange ideas and maybe generate some synergy among the team. Also this will help polish your presentation skills.
Week 4
- Submit Finalized Project Plan
  Try to complete the project proposal as soon as possible. You should already have an idea what you want to do by now. You just need to put it down on paper. If you spend 4 weeks just to write a proposal, there is not much time left to do real work this semester.
Week 12
- Submit Interim Report
  The interim should normally contain all your background research, literature surveys and technology comparisons. It should also contain detailed architecture and software designs and diagrams.

Second Semester

Week 1
- Progress Presentation
  Give a short 5-10 minute PowerPoint presentation on the progress of your project so far and the design of your system as well as concrete plans for the remaining part of this semester.
Week 1-7
- Implementation
Week 7-9
- Demonstration
Week 10
- Submit Final Report
Week 11-12
- Presentation
