Hefei University of Technology
Hefei University of Technology, one of the key universities in China, is directly under the Ministry of Education. It is situated in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, which is also known as a green city and as an important base of science and education in China. From 2005, the University is supported by the government under the State 211 Project.
Now the University has 17 schools and departments, 46 research institutes and several key disciplinary areas. It also has provided a unique plan--Changjiang Scholars Award Program to invite those famous professors at home and abroad to work here.
Up to now there are five centers for post-doctoral studies. The University is authorized to confer doctor degrees in 32 disciplines, master's in 93 disciplines and bachelor's in 63 disciplines.
To sum up, the University is characterized by the following features: a wide coverage of subjects, a combination of diverse disciplines, and an emphasis on engineering. The university has a history of 61 years. With the passage of time and its development, it has not only created a fine tradition of learning and harmonious atmosphere throughout the campus, but also constructed and developed its own unique campus landscape.
School of Computer Science and Information Engineering
The School of Computer and Information consists of the Computer Science and Technology department, Electronic Information Engineering department, Communication Engineering department, Central laboratory, Institute of Microcomputer Application Etc. The School of Computer and Information prides itself on its 210 professors and staffs. There are 10 Ph.D supervisor , 16 porfessors , and more than 30 master-student supervisors in total .
The School now has 5 undergraduate majors i.e Computer Science and Technology ; Information Security, Communication Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Electronic Information Science and Technology; 4 Master's degree authorization points i.e Computer Application Technology, Computer Software and Theory, Signal and Information Processing ; Electro circuit and System ; 3 Engineering Master authorization field i.e Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Electronics and Communication Technology; Two doctorate degree authorization point , Computer application technology and Signal and information processing. Computer application technology point , which was granted as early as 1986. In 2005 , there were 2196 undergraduate-students , 520 master students and Ph.D students in SCI.
The SCI takes on dozens of projects annually which include The Natural Science Foundation , 863 scientific & research projects at both state and provincial level . The fund far exceeds 13 million RMB Yuan in 2007.
The SCI has a strong scientific research strength in the field of Intelligent Control, Pattern recognition, CAD/CG, Image Analysis and Processing, DSP Application Technology, Software Engineering and Environment, Computer Network, Management Information System, Signal Detecting and Information Processing, Non-Damage Flaw Detecting, Artificial Intelligence Etc .
The SCI student delegation won more than 20 at both top and second level awards in the National and USA Mathematics Modeling Competitions, the Second or Third level of awards in the "Challenge Cup", and excellent results in the National College Electronic Works Design competition and The Asia and Pacific Region Programming competition.
