Abstract

In this talk I'll survey a number of security systems related to e-commerce, smart cards, pay-tv, and cellular telephony. I'll analyse their strengths and weaknesses, and describe the methodologies used in their design and the lessons learned from their deployment.


Biography

Adi Shamir is a member of the Applied Mathematics Department at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. He participated in developing the RSA public key cryptosystem, the Fiat-Shamir identification scheme, polynomial secret sharing scheme, visual cryptosystem, lattice attacks on knapsack cryptosystems, differential cryptanalysis, fault attacks on smart cards, algebraic attacks on multivariate cryptosystems, and numerous other cryptographic schemes and techniques.
