WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
The Internet enables individuals, as well as business and government, to handle transactions with efficiencies unheard of previously.  New opportunities and competitive advances are made possible with the utilization of the increasingly ubiquitous reach of the global Internet.  However, a critical requirement for network transaction is security.  Encryption techniques and associated protocols play  a key role in the provision of security.  The purpose of the Workshop is two fold:

(i)
(ii)
to report on current advances in cryptographic techniques, and
to report on encryption and security protocols and standards as they are applied to e-commerce.

CrypTEC '99 is organized by the City University of Hong Kong in cooperation with the Center for Information Security & Cryptography (CISC), University of Hong Kong; IEEE Computer Society, Hong Kong Section, Computer Chapter; National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC); UNI-Tech Technologies Ltd, Wei Lun Foundation Ltd and K C Wong Education Foundation.   It aims to provide a forum for professionals and academics to exchange and share their research results, ideas, and experience in cryptography and e-commerce.

Papers relating to new research results and/or actual examples of applications and implementation are welcome.

The Areas of Interest include, but are not limited to: Cryptographic Systems, Encryption Algorithms, Security Protocols, Payment Protocols, Certificate Authority, Authentication Schemes, Smart Cards, Legal Aspects.
