Web Services Computing

The Web is more and more used for application-to- application communication. The programmatic interfaces made available are referred to as Web services. In order to lead Web services to their full potential, a set of technologies such as XML protocol and database, Web services addressing, Web services description and Web services choreography need to be developed. Our Web services group is engaged to advancing these technologies, as well as the application of research results in practice. Our research projects cover Semantic B2B interaction engine for enterprise systems, conformance assessment for Web services processes, intelligent agent for composition and decomposition of Web services, communication protocols support and QoS control for Web services in a grid environment, wireless grid access and efficient multimedia transmission to Web services, and other popular areas. Members of the group publish regularly in renowned journals (e.g., WWW Journal, Information Systems, and IEEE TKDE) and present papers at international Web conferences (e.g., WWW, CAiSE, WISE, and APWeb.
