Bioinformatics

Bioinformatics has been a rapidly developing area in the past decade. Today, almost all top universities in the world have bioinformatics research groups. Our research group in the department has been working on several core problems in this area, e.g., superstring, multiple sequence alignment, motif detection, drug target identification, and haplotype inference. The results are published in leading journals such as SIAM Journal on Computing, Journal of the ACM, Bioinformatics and Journal of Computational Biology.
