CS6472 Advanced Multimedia Database

Course Aims & Objectives: 
This course aims to provide an advanced study of the research and development of the multimedia database system technology.  Many of these activities are concerned with: (a) providing much richer modeling capabilities within databases; (b) multimedia database system architecture; (c) integrating multimedia indexing and content-based retrieval techniques into database systems for more effective and intelligent functionality; (d) developing interoperable, distributed multimedia database systems; (e) modern multimedia applications. In this course, we will study issues concerning such advanced technologies.

Upon completion, students should be able to:

-  understand and grasp the most advanced multimedia database technologies, and

-  apply some of the advanced technologies to develop multimedia database applications.
