The programme aims to provide non-computing graduates with a good background in the application areas of computer systems and a sound foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of computing. It also attempts to expand students' horizon with more advanced computing topics so as to enable them to anticipate and appreciate new developments in the computing field.
Objectives
Specific programme objectives are:
- To provide a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of computing principles and practice-oriented systems knowledge, design methodologies, and tools and techniques in the development of computer-based systems.
- To apply software engineering principles in the design and implementation of software systems, using conventional and object-oriented methods, and programming language such as Java.
- To provide students with the ability to approach and critically evaluate new developments in the information technology area.
