Since 2005, the BSc (Hons) Computer Studies (in short, BSCS) programme has been converted to an attractive self-financed alternative to Government-funded programmes with the additional flexibility of being offered in combined mode. Students can now study in full-time or part-time mode. The BSCS programme is particularly suited for Higher Diploma or Associate Degree graduates in Computer Studies or other relevant disciplines as a convenient top-up path towards a university degree.

Same High Quality as Government-funded Programmes
The curriculum follows the same high-quality academic standard and is taught by the same team of internationally qualified academic staff as Government-funded programmes. Note that the BSCS programme is not a sandwich programme and professional placement will not be required.

Scholarships
Top students will be eligible for Achievement Scholarships to be awarded yearly.

Aims
The programme aims to provide high quality undergraduate education with well-balanced emphasis on practical hands-on development skills as well as software engineering management know-hows needed to manage and oversee software development teams and projects.

Through in-depth lectures and rigorous tutorials, laboratory work, projects and case studies, students will acquire a broad and thorough understanding of the theories and practical skills behind software design and development, software engineering, multimedia systems, computer networks and information security. The programme offers study streams which allow students to specialize in different areas of expertise. Graduates can easily leverage this strong foundation to excel their performance in various technical and managerial positions.

Special Features
Students in the programme will be embodied with fundamental knowledge and practical skills in computer science to further develop their careers in the computer or related industries. In addition, with the wide range of up-to-date electives and study streams available, students can tailor the programme to suit their particular interests and learning needs.
