This programme aims to provide students with a thorough grounding in the theoretical and practical aspects of the computer science discipline necessary for successful careers as system designers and builders in the continually developing information technology environment. The programme enables students to develop a strong foundation in the discipline as well as specialization in a particular area through flexible curriculum. Through a wide range of electives supported in the programme, students may keep pace with trends in technology. The sandwich programme gives students an opportunity to devote a whole year to supervised work experiences, to integrate and practise principles and techniques learned, and for professional development.

Special Features
After completing two years of full-time study, students will spend one year in IT Professional Placement before returning for their final year of full-time study. IT Professional Placement offers an opportunity for students to integrate, apply and consolidate their book-based knowledge with an actual working environment. The placement also gives students a head start in career after graduation as it is counted as one year's experience. Placement organisations include international computer vendors, banks, government and related organizations, such as IBM, JP Morgan Chase Bank, Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, China Light & Power Group, Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering, and Hospital Authority. Placement salary is comparable to that of the university graduates.
